Hurricane Matthew: and those impacted that need …

It has been a harrowing week for those impacted by Hurricane Matthew and for those who might soon be hit by the category four storm. In the wake of these recent events, there are countless people who could really be helped by your support. 

Here are a few organizations collecting supplies and financial donations for victims of the deadly storm, which has been the most powerful to threaten the Atlantic coast in more than a decade, affecting Haiti, Cuba, Jamaica, and the Bahamas.

Tasty Ghana Rock Buns

The wind carries an ever slight chill, a reminder that summer and her beautiful weather departs as Autumn has arrived. Late morning sunrise and rain drizzles from the sky, a subtle hint of Autumn slowly settling in for the next few months and breathing new life into old rhythm.

Last weekend, in my haste to enjoy a light wholesome snack and after a visit from a wonderful guest from Ghana, I found inspiration to make one of my old time favorites – the Ghanaian rock buns; also known as rock cakes or scones.

For the love of Chocolate

Everyone loves chocolate! As a little girl, I remember how I loved waking up to the smell of anything cocoa.  You see, I grew up in a beautiful harbor town in Tema, Ghana.

My parents’ house was in the center of the town in close proximity to the tranquil beaches which I will write about another time, and yes, the industrial area that happened to have a cocoa factory.

Africa: the lure of beautiful beaches and romantic sunsets. I was born there, in a breezy tropical country close to the Atlantic Ocean.

I was born to amazing parents from two continents that chanced upon each other in a city in Africa.  This is a story of optimism and love at first sight. The man pursued this beautiful woman and wooed her off her feet.  Their courtship was one of true love.
