This past weekend, I had a great time at a lovely friend’s 1970s Tupperware party. The theme was of course the ’70s! Hair, dress, shoes, music, games, tupperware, and yes…food!
Between flare pants, hippie, bohemian or whatever you call it, the ’70s-inspired pieces pop in the fashion world every once in a while. I remember how I loved all the clothes my mom had from the ’70s. The flamboyant colors, dresses, and bold shoes that simply made a statement! If only I could have gotten my hands on some of my mom’s clothes for the party. However, that proved to be quite a challenge given my parents live in Ghana, West Africa, and I am in America.
Often times, we associate the ’70s look with disco attire but this is not always the case. So what did I eventually wear? I juggled the idea of a white lacy dress or something casual. In the end, I opted for one of my bell flare jeans, a pink checkered shirt, weaved belt, and Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Shoreline slip-on shoes. It’s possible I may have pulled off the California look with my light grey hair, adding a modern twist to the wardrobe.
For inspiration on ’70s styles and ideas for a party, I have included a link to my Pinterest page. Who knows? You may decide to host a ’70s themed party in the future or even be invited to one!
Stay tuned for the next blog where I will share the goodies I took to the party. If you liked this post, please leave a comment below and share a picture on Instagram with the hashtag #louisemillen
